The use of an adhesive edge has become indispensable in many classes of 1:10 touring cars on carpet.
But what is the best way to apply this adhesive edge?
There are many ways.
Some of them are easy (in your hand, turning the car or using the trim turned forward) - this one is perfect.
Anyone who has never used this tool tends to judge incorrectly.
We can say - from our own experience - that the adhesive edge is child's play with this tool and the matching brushes.
What's more, the adhesive edge can be perfectly reproduced or slightly increased to the desired extent. A task that is almost impossible to do by hand or on the car and therefore does not do justice to the extremely useful effect of an adhesive edge.
You remove the wheel from the car and clamp it onto the tool instead. At the push of a button, the wheel rotates and you can apply the edge to the desired size with a brush soaked in superglue.
The whole thing is suitable for tires of 1:10 touring cars and 1:10 M-chassis with 12mm hexagon and up to 26mm width.
The whole thing is powered by a simple 9V block (not included).
As a little gimmick, there is a compartment on the back for transporting suitable brushes. (Tip: Depending on the length, the handle may need to be cut off a little - e.g. with scissors)
Why an adhesive edge at all?
The adhesive edge ensures that the car does not rear up in very grippy conditions and, in the worst case, even tip over.
The tire - which is supposed to offer a lot of grip - is deliberately hardened on the outer flank so that it remains gripless there. This prevents the car from being levered out.
This adhesive edge can only affect the side of the tire, extend to the shoulder or even go onto the tread.
The higher the adhesive edge is pulled, the more extreme its effect. Be careful: at some point it's too much.
A car that is too fidgety can be healed - without any further setup changes - using the adhesive edge alone, which might bring about the optimal balance.
Anyone who has never experienced this should try it out instead of scoffing at it. The adhesive edge is THE setup tool par excellence indoors.
IMPORTANT:
The tool only sets the wheel in slow rotation. It is therefore not suitable for grinding tires.
